5-HTP, short for 5-Hydroxytryptophan, is a naturally occurring amino acid that plays a crucial role in the body's production of serotonin. It's a biological step away from becoming serotonin itself, and when it enters the brain, it is thought to rapidly elevate central serotonin levels. But that's not all – the serotonin production triggered by 5-HTP may also boost melatonin production, which is often suppressed by late-night device screens (and party lights!). [1]
Weight Control
In two studies of adults struggling with obesity, 5-HTP supported healthy weight loss by reducing cravings for carbohydrate-rich foods and increasing feelings of fullness. [2] [3]
Migraines
In a study of 124 people suffering from regular migraines, 5-HTP reduced the frequency and severity of migraine attacks in 71% of participants. [4]
Sleep
5-HTP, when combined with GABA (like in our formula!), has been shown to improve sleep by reducing the time it takes to fall asleep, increasing sleep time, and improving sleep quality. [5]
